Darkstalkers: Grimoire's Reckoning is a fighting game released in 1996 for the SEGA Saturn, PlayStation and PC. It was developed by Cor-Son Games, with additional work by Gray Matter and Radical Entertainment. The game came about due to Cor-Son wishing to produce a title for Capcom. They wanted to work on a rendition of Darkstalkers, but Capcom refused to let them access the title. Instead, Cor-Son were given permission to produce an adaptation of the American Darkstalkers cartoon. Cor-Son modified it so while it followed the show, it possessed the same tone as the game series.

Publishing was handled by Psygnosis, while Capcom is credited as a licensor.

Reception[]

The game received very mixed reviews. Critics complimented the fighting mechanics, but felt that it was a watered-down version of the original Darkstalkers. Likewise, fans of the original game questioned why an adaptation was made for such an ill-received series, though they also claim that the game at least tried to keep with the tone of the original game.
