(Creator's note: oh heyya, It's me Sony. Just making this page cuz I had an idea and didn't know where to put. I'm currently not in the position to make this into an art project, so this was the next best thing.)
Disney Dream-Team Duels is a concept for a tag-team 2D fighting game. Mechanically, it would be similar in style to traditional fighting games but with simplified controls cuz this is a Disney game and you can't expect Disney to make anything challenging these days-. I guess you could kind of describe it as "Disney Mortal Kombat", but without the gore and adult themes, tho I am taking a bit of inspiration from Marvel Rivals with how I'm reinventing the characters. Aestheically and storywise, I'm pulling a lot of inspiration from Skullgirls
Gameplay[]
The game would have all the typical mechanics of a 2D fighting game: you've got your standard Jab attacks which are physical kicks and punches, Weapon attacks which usually involve the fighter's main accessories, and Commands which make use of both attacks for its inputs and usually trigger gimmicks. All above mentioned attacks could have High, Medium, Low, and Aerial variants.
Fighters can also Guard against attacks, so long as their Guard Stance (High, Medium, and Low) matches with the attack being used by the opponent.
The Game would feature a Tag In mechanic, where players could swap between their two chosen fighters in the middle of the match, though the damage stays the same across them both. A player may choose to bring with them an Assist instead. Assist Characters are non playable characters that trigger unique attacks or effects to add interest to a match.
An important mechanic for this game concept is Installs. Installs are mid fight transformations certain fighters can achieve through filling up a magic meter. Players can obtain magic for the magic meter by sustaining damage and successfully blocking attacks. Fighters undergoing a transformation will revert back to their original selves when their meter fully depletes.
When a player's meter remains full and unused for a time, they get access to a Finisher move that unleashs the full might of their fighter. However, if you miss the attack or fail the command input to activate it, you'll lose all your meter. Everyone gets a Finisher, though not everyone has an Install.
Plot[]
When the evil vizier Jafar gets sealed inside the Genie's Lamp, he relishes in the fact he achieved his lifelong dream: to obtain ultimate power. However, months pass as he tires of his cosmic abilities and begins observing other worlds through the lamp. Seeing sources of power beyond his own comprehension, Jafar musters much thirst to flea from the lamp, this craving for power growing stronger by the day.
One fateful night, the Genie's Lamp found itself in the possession of a mysterious witch. This stranger summoned Jafar, freeing him while also binding him into her servitude. Jafar's new master wished to gather magic from all the worlds, a wish Jafar gladly agreed to grant knowing it was his chance to reap what he wanted. The evil djinn went across the different worlds, taking with him all the magic relics or gifted spirits he could. Many worlds were destroyed in this conquest, but eventually Jafar reached his limits. His body could not assimilate any more magic. He reported back to his master and proposed they find a new vessel to complete the wish.
On the day of Aladdin and Jasmine's wedding, Jafar appeared from the shadows and captures the princess, intending on using her as a vessel for his conquest. Aladdin gives chase, and finds a mysterious mirror within the Cave of Wonders. Stepping through the mirror, Aladdin finds himself inside the Castle of Illusion, a hall of mirrors into other worlds. With the help of the keeper of the castle, Mizrabel, Aladdin ventures across the universe in search of Jafar, as his scheme to seize magic began changing the destinies of many heroes...
Characters[]
Base Game Roster[]
Mickey Mouse - Performer and Ringleader for the Happy Valley Circus, Mickey battles with his quick wits and magic tricks, with well rounded moves that pull from many classic shorts like "Thru The Mirror" and "The Band Concert." For his install, Mickey calls upon the powers of a mysterious cone shaped hat to show his audience some real magic... some imagination, huh?
Goofy - Known across the lands as "The Great Goofini", this Pilot/Inventor/Goofball is a popular act in the Happy Valley Circus. When it comes to learning how to fly, practicing his fishing skills, and trying not to embarrass his son Max, Goofy pushes through with what weird disjointed hit and hurtboxes he has. A defensive fighter with long reach, this fighter will have a steep learning curve that's rewarding to those who bother picking him up.
Snow White - Fairest of them all, Snow White is a kind and gentle soul who wants to do nothing but keep the arena neat and tidy... and instead of fighting, she does exactly that. With the aid of her friends from the forest, Snow White brushes, brooms, and wipes away at the stage and anyone caught in her routine. When all is done and dusted (aka: her meter is full) she begins to forget her cleaning and tries to bake a pie along with her forest friends, unleashing an entirely new set of attacks that's more devastating than before.
Alice - A curious young girl with a world of her own, Alice plays with her opponents using all sorts of Wonderlandian antics. With the Chesire Cat by her side, Alice can cricket his head towards opponents and have it bounce all over the place. Alice would also have a counter move with three height variants where if the opponent hits Alice with an attack that matches her counter move's height, the opponent will get the next move of that height disabled. All in all, Alice would be that one really annoying fighter in every fighting game roster.
Peter Pan - The boy who never grew up, Peter Pan is a daring young man who craves adventure. With the help of Tinker Bell, Peter Pan can cast his sentient shadow around to damage opponents from a far. Peter can even use shadow puppetry to imitate animals (including crocodiles) for some command inputs. For his Install, Peter Pan gets covered in pixie dust and gains new commands that allow him to completely devastate his opponents with a barrage of high flying attacks.
Captain Hook - An aged pirate captain with a sense of pride and grace. Captain Hook values his image as a respected gentleman, and always tries to show off his refined manners through prim and proper swordplay... with the occasional trickery or two. Captain Hook's attacks would mostly focus on his rapier, with his normal state allowing him a few command inputs using his blunderbuss and hooks (including a command grab). But when the opponent ticks off the esteemed captain (Aka: when his meter is full), his pride clouds his eyes and his desperation leads him into using all sorts of unfair tactics: Bombs, Trick Hooks, and Cannons.
Aurora - The beauty who rose from eternal sleep. In this universe, the fair princess as taken to arm herself in combat with a halberd and a shield with a spinning wheel affected to its rim. Aurora is a long distance fighter who can strike from a far but cannot do much when the opponent is up close. She could even throw her shield on the ground to roll as a grounded projectile. For her Install, Aurora falls asleep and projects her consciousness into the fight, taking advantage of the gifts she received from the Three Good Fairies to battle while in this form.
Prince Philip - A prince brave and true. Philip might seem like a simple swordsman, but his encounters with Maleficent has driven him to learn magic for himself. Aided by the powers of the Three Good Fairies, Philip can apply different effects to his sword, which could amplify his damage output or set status debuffs on his opponents. For his Install, the Prince channels the very powers of Maleficent onto his blade, granting him dangerous new attacks and engulfing himself in an ominous green aura.
Constance Hatchaway - An angry apparition with unending greed. Constance Hatchaway is a ruthless woman who inherited the wealth of her many husbands through gruesome means, earning her the name of "The Black Widow Bride." Constance as a fighter would battle with her hatchet, striking at her foes with strong, deliberate swings. She would also be able to stun opponents with her ghost breath, sending chills down their spine. She would also have a command input, that if completed successfully, can trap the soul of an opponent in a hatbox for a few seconds.
Ariel - The Mermaid who longed for the world above her. Ariel's affinity for collecting human artefacts and the Atlantian culture for music will make up the bulk of her design as a fighter. Her gimick would be all about timing attacks to the beat of the song playing in the background. When her meter is full, she can summon her father's Trident and fight without the need for a good tune.
Prince Eric - A seafaring prince searching for a world beyond his land. Prince Eric's attacks draw from his experiences out at sea, with many attacks that involve throwing harpoons, tieing down knots, and pushing aside barrels.
Aladdin - a Thief turned Prince. Aladdin finds himself traveling and battling across different worlds when an enemy from his past goes on a conquest for power beyond power. Having just become a prince, Aladdin's combat skills are still on the scrappy side. His attacks are very reactionary, using scimitars, jewel encrusted apples, and the magic carpet to twist the battle in his favor. With a command input, Aladdin can call upon the Genie's powers to enhance one of his attacks, but this can only be done 3 times per round.
Dreamfinder - A jolly scientist in the field of Imagination. Dreamfinder is an inventor always in search for the next big idea. This large bodied fighter battles using the power of his own imagination, manifesting various objects using the Spark Converter and calling upon the help of his equally imaginative friend, Figment. His attacks would reference various Disney Parks Attractions.
The Beast/Prince Adam - A brawny creature with rage running through his claws. The Beast was once a prideful young man, before a witch cursed him with an appearance that matched his personality. As The Beast, this fighter can be an imposing force in battle, with his tough, hardy hide and ability to grab and throw opponents. When he uses his Install, a flash of magic transforms The Beast back into his human form. As Prince Adam, your attacks deal less damage, but you'll be able to do more combos with his newfound agility. Prince Adam isn't the most dignified fighter though, so don't be surprised if his scrappy battle tactics involve chucking furniture at his foes.
Gaston - A boastful hunter that's too full of himself. Gaston's ego is as large as his chest, and he's got the strength to prove it. Gaston brawls through the use of his gun and his muscles, with several attacks involving him flexing his physique. Gaston, being prideful, can't help but bask in the spotlight, so much of his attacks have considerable wind ups and cool downs.
Hercules - An immortal who reclaimed his godhood through heroism. Wonder Boy over here fights with honor and bravery... and by that I mean he punches, slashes with his sword, and bashes with his shield just as well as you'd think he would. His Install allows him to summon help from the Pantheon of Olympus, granting him some godly new commands.
Hades - Vealous lord of the underworld. Hades is a sly foe whose a lot more reactionary than other fighters. With his fiery hair and a little bit of assistance from Pain and Panic, Hades' gameplan is all about wearing down his opponents through sheer firepower. His Install makes him blow up in a red fire rage, dropping the sly fox act and acting out in full force .
Ping/Mulan - A mysterious warrior from a far off village. This masked solider faces the enemy with deliberate, skillful swordplay and fire magic courtesy of the guardian spirit Mushu. With a playstyle all about waiting and striking to turn the tides of battle, Ping is a fighter of opportunity. When the fighter's Install is activated, the warrior drops their armour and shows their true identity to be... the fair maiden Fa Mulan. In this form, Mulan fights with swift sword strikes, fire crackers, and ribbons. Mulan Mains have to prove their skills with what little they have to assure their victory.
Sheriff Woody - Cherished sheriff of the dusty trails. This vintage toy has seen better days, having to replace one of his arms for one from a plastic figure. Woody is quite resourceful though, as he figured out how to throw his loose arm like a boomerang, among other things to do with his appendage. This classic cowboy brawls with all sorts of different items. He can lasso in opponents with his pull string, pull out a dart blaster to deal short bursts of damage, and even call in Bullseye for a move or two.
Buzz Lightyear - A space cadet lost in time. This version of Buzz, meant to be a premium collector's item, is much more accurate to the Lightyear movie than the Buzz we see in the events of Toy Story. Armed with his lazer pointer, force fields, and his rocket boosters, Buzz works best fighting from afar.
Judge Claude Frollo - A ruthless judge who sees in himself no faults. Judge Frollo has decided to bring judgement out of the Notre Dame into the whole multiverse. This unwavering priest comes into the area wielding a gavel and scales. He'll also be able to throw scriptures onto the ground that trap opponents in a whirlwind of fire.
Dr. Doofenshmirtz - The clumsy pharmacist. Dr. Doofenshmirtz comes into the fray with a backpack full of all his greatest Inators, only made possible through his newest invention: The Compress-into-a-bag-Inator! Doof would be an indirect fighter, unable to defend himself with his wimpy physical attacks. However, he can deal damage and help himself through planting his inators on the ground, which can do lots of crazy things when the right combinations are used. His Install has the Compress-into-a-bag-Inator backfire on the pharmacist, with a helmet being dropped on his head letting him be controlled by none other than Perry the Platypus. In that form, Doof can let out a whole host of martial arts based attacks.
Norm - An aloof robotic assistant. Norm's dimwitted nature makes him less than ideal as a fighter, but he more than makes up for it in his sheer size. Norm fights with all sorts of different weaponry he stored in his chest compartment, such as sawblades, tennis ball launchers, rockets, and... an ice cream dispenser?
Stitch - An experiment gone wrong. Stitch is a little ball of energy that likes to bring chaos wherever he goes. His kit revolves around his tiny stature, which allows him to maneuver around pretty much anything you throw at him. He'll claw, bite, and smash his ukulele to try and annoy his foes. His Install stretched out his two other arms and antennae, which allows him to go full Experiment 626 on his enemies, blasters and all.
Sora/Riku - Fated friends training to be Keyblade Masters. Sora is a kid from Destiny Islands who, through his various adventures, has had entanglements in the battles between light and darkness. Sora is no stranger to traveling to different worlds, and after hearing about a new threat stealing relics across time and space he sets out to right the wrongs. Sora battles best in the air, with the many tricks of the Kingdom Key helping him keep combos going. His gameplan is typically to throw himself into danger and use magic to keep himself going. When his Install is activated, he swaps out for one of his best allies: Riku. A close friend of Sora, Riku has had much experience handling darkness, and that translates into his much more oppressive, punish focused moveset.
Tow Mater - A spy from a simple life. Mater is a tow truck who was mistaken for a spy while attending the World Grand Prix, and has been upgraded with all sorts of gizmos for a mission to defeat a secretive organization. This unusual fighter specializes in dominating the ground with his large hitting attacks. Mater is the self proclaimed "best backwards driver in the world", and will use his skills to quickly dash away from opponents with a command. This can help reset the battle to neutral or even as a surprise attack. Most of his attacks work better when facing away from the opponent.
Linguini - A chef that found where he belonged. Linguini is a skinny, young man of not much ambition who, through meeting with a daring rat named Remy, becomes the vessel of something bigger than he ever knew. On a quest to seek out new flavors to add to their restaurant, the duo finds themselves into a conflict spanning across worlds. Linguini's attacks are all based on different cooking techniques, but many of his hard hitting commands are on cooldown timers, so you have to be careful not to spam them one after the other and instead pepper them in with combos. As an Install, Linguini puts on a blindfold and lets Remy take full control, and his attacks get buffed with splash effects reminiscent of the tasting scenes in the film.
Rapunzel - A princess with mysterious hair. Rapunzel is a girl who spent most of her life locked up in a tower, but after a daring escape, reclaims her place in her kingdom and went on various adventures figuring out the secrets of her powers. Rapunzel's main weapon is her trusty frying pan, which she can strike with or affix to her long hair to swing from afar. Her Install isn't a transformation, but a single use attack that uses her Moondrop encantation to chip away at her opponent's health, provided the inputs aren't interrupted.
Elsa - The avatar of Ice and the elements. Elsa is the former queen of Arendelle who left the throne to answer a call greater than her entire kingdom. Now acting as the mediator between mystics and men, Elsa brings into the brawl her abilities as an Ice mage and as the anchor to all the spirits. She can stun opponents with her ice powers, throw mighty frost blasts, and even have Nokk and Bruni appear in an attack or two.
Baymax - Your personal Healthcare companion. This inflatable robot, designed by Tadashi Hamada, assists and assesses people in their health and wellbeings. in his base form, Baymax's squishy body makes him a good tank type character, being much harder to make flinch. His limited mobility makes it hard for him to reach from afar or sidestep some attacks. Baymax is usually more concerned with maintaining himself with command inputs that clear status effects and help him fill his meter faster. Baymax isn't all that useless without his Install though, as he has a few attacks that could push the opponent away to stall for time until he's ready. When you eventually do get his meter up though, Baymax dons his Combat Armour, and gains a ton of new attack commands that'll really plow through your opponent.
Moana - The chieftess who answered the call. Moana is the leader of a tribe of wayfinders who's tradition is to sail the seas for new homes. Moana trusts the seas and lets it guide her towards new horizons, which is exactly what she brings as a fighter. Moana uses the will of water to dash around, get behind opponents, and even juggle them around in the air.
Asha & Star - Keeper of wishes, holder of magic. After defeating the evil King Magnifico, Asha took over as leader of the Kingdom of Rosas and now watches over the magic of her world and those beyond. Asha battles through the use of wishgranting, which gives her items and magic abilities referencing other Disney media. She could, say, throw an infinite sided die to deal variable damage, use a magic feather to hover off the ground, or even summon her own Keyblade for an attack or two. She can even call upon Star, which she can control from a distance like a puppet.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit - A classy trolleyman who tends to stay out of trouble. This witty little guy likes to slip past his opponents attacks, playing evasively for the right chance to whoop them with his iconic rabbit's foot.

When the love of her life was framed for a crime he didn't commit, Jessica takes up detective work to stop Doom Patrol in their tracks.
