Need for Speed: Most Wanted Pt. II, known as Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2 or simply NFSMW2, is the thirty-first game in the Need for Speed series and is the first, in a long time, to be co-developed by EA Vancouver. Released on November 11th, 2025, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005), it is popularly referred as one of the most successful modern Need for Speed titles of all time.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted Pt. II focused on the details that made games such as Need for Speed: Most Wanted was appreciated for in the community, as a way to save the franchise. It continues the plot from Need for Speed: Carbon which had continued the plot from the original Need for Speed: Most Wanted. It takes place 8 years after Need for Speed: Carbon in multiple cities: Fortune Valley, Ventura Bay, Bayview, Palmont, and Rockport.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted Pt. II introduced several new features, most notably the Undercover race mode, the Infiltration Run, the Renegade Supply Run, the Syndicate Shakedown, and much, much more new race modes. It is also one of the first Need for Speed games to have 4 editions in total: the Standard Edition, the Cross Edition, the Deluxe Edition, and the Black Edition.
Plot[]
It's the year 2014, 8 years after your epic victory in Palmont City against Darius. You've returned from your 8-year vacation, with a burning desire to conquer the streets once again and earn the Most Wanted title (as someone had already taken that from you since '06), but you decide to test your luck and decide to visit Fortune Valley, as a race with a large prize of $500,000 steals your attention. You pack your bags and leave Palmont, probably for the final normal time. You'll see what I mean as you keep reading. Trust me, it isn't lovely.
The next morning, you arrive to the desert known as Fortune Valley, with it looking pretty lively for some 'random' desert in Nevada, but at the same time, gives an uneasy feeling. It looks lively, but at the same time, it looks lifeless, as if all the juice was squeezed out of it. You brush it off, thinking it's just how the city is made, especially since most cities in Nevada are like that EXCEPT Las Vegas, not giving too much attention to it. However, without you knowing, that will be proved wrong VERY quick.
You drive off to the location where the unknown driver had called you to, being an asphalt circuit stretching of 1.2 kilometers. There are 5 opponents driving pretty speedy cars. However, you and your beautiful silver-and-blue M3 GTR (which, trust me, has seen it all) can take on the job easily, it being able to outnumber the cars presented to them. You put your cars on the starting line, then take off as soon as the green flag was raised.
Everything seems normal on the first lap, but after the first lap, the cars slowly began... disappearing. From six, to five, to four, then, eventually, to one. The only one being you. You think it's pretty strange, but because of how absolutely FOOLISH you are, you decide to keep racing until the final lap. However, as you exited the turn leading to the finish line, all of a sudden, the police began tailing you! Not in small numbers, but LARGE numbers. And oh, boy, they were ready.
You panick, trying to find a way to escape, but all of a sudden something terrible happens: your car gets shot by an EMP blast! It gets disabled for a very small time, due to how fast you react, the car starts back up, drifting into the trees and driving to a safehouse, with you thinking that you escaped them as soon as you come to the safehouse, but no, no, no, buddy, you haven't escaped, because as I said, they were READY. As soon as you came into that safehouse, more police units surrounded outside. You are forced to surrender, giving your M3 GTR up, which is then returned to you before all 4 bosses.
You shortly get released after due to a lack of evidence, giving you a deja vu feeling, but what breaks that nobody even comes to help you. You try calling Mia, and what do you get? Nothing. Another call, nothing. A bit hopeless, you decide to try find the dealership. On the way, a funny looking shop called "Gus' Import Parts" (I ran out of ideas) catches your attention, and you decide to visit it.
From there, you meet one of the 100 gangs known as the Renegades. There and then, they tell you everything about what's going on - in short, an unknown figure known as "The Director" has control of the 5 cities: Fortune Valley, Ventura Bay, Bayview, Palmont, and Rockport - and is in control of two organizations: The Syndicate, an agency similar to the CIA, and the Castle, taking control of 5 Leaderboards (Blacklists) which are heavily Class-restricted. Wanting some people to help you, you strike a deal with the Renegades promising your focus on trying to break the Director's control on all 5 cities while doing your regular races and taking part in the Renegades' missions, as they are against the Syndicate. From there, your rise in all 5 cities begins.

The Campaign Mode, otherwise known as Career Mode, is the main game with the main story. The story is centered around the main antagonist, The Director, and your goal is to make him lose control over all 5 cities (Fortune Valley, Ventura Bay, Bayview, Palmont, Rockport) by attending Undercover events and Syndicate Shakedown events more often, along with beating the cities leaderboards, to weaken his control.
Cars & Classes[]

In Need for Speed: Most Wanted Pt. II, there are 6 Classes and about 166 base cars in the game that are able to be visually modified (except Ferrari to comply with their licensing agreement) or performance modified. Their price increases as you move cities, to make the game increasingly harder. For every 3 Leaderboard positions you move up, you need to get a new car required for that Class.
Race Events[]
- Leaderboard Race: Only with one opponent, the person you are competing with depending on which place you are at on the city’s Leaderboard, it is a circuit race where your opponent can catch up quickly, and if you are on Class 3 or above, start police chases with a maximum heat level of 5.
- Circuit: A race with a maximum of 11 opponents on a public road or a circuit depending on which loation you are in, where there are laps with a range of 1 to 3 laps.
- Sprint: A race with a maximum of 11 opponents on a public road, where you reach from Point A to Point B as fast as you can.
- Knockout: Introduced in Need for Speed: Underground, for each lap a racer gets knocked out of the race. The range of opponents is around 3-5 and the laps are based on the total number of opponents.
- Drift: On a small circuit, you have mainly 1 goal — get the most Drift points out of every other racer to win. Depending on how well you drift and how quickly you can finish the lap, you can get point multipliers.
- Street-X: First introduced in Need for Speed: Underground 2, You are presented with a maximum of 5 opponents in a small, broad track. Nitrous is disabled and the racers can catch up very quickly no matter how powerful your car is.
- (Underground Racing League) URL: Introduced in Need for Speed: Underground 2, you race on a circuit along with some of the Syndicate units undercover, ranging from 1 to 2 units. You must be careful not to trigger a S-07 Pursuit, and you must dodge their attacks.
- Time Trial: A vehicle class-restricted gamemode, your goal is to beat the time set by a racer before it’s over, and try to avoid starting a police chase or an S-07 Pursuit. If you start a police chase or an S-07 Pursuit, your trial is ruined.
- Time Attack: A vehicle class-restricted gamemode, your goal is to set the fastest lap time in a street circuit or a URL circuit, depending on which city you are in.
- Drag Race: It’s simple — with a maximum of 6 opponents, your goal is to get first place while driving on a straight track without trying to max your RPM. You are forced to use the manual transmission and you must avoid all obstacles or you total your car.
- Undercover: To participate, you need to loan a car from the Renegades that meets the required Class for a race hosted by the Syndicate. Your goal is to try not to blow your cover while collecting intel and data and use that to your advantage. Try to keep a decent position throughout the gamemode, or try to win Time Trial events (if set this way). In this gamemode, you can hear what the opponents, members of the Syndicate, are saying on the radio, and have more special features normal cars given by dealers usually do not have.
- Pink Slip Redemption: A high-risk, winner-take-all race where both racers put their cars on the line. This can be offered as a challenge by Syndicate enforcers or a desperate attempt to win back a car confiscated by The Syndicate.
- Wager Race: Race against other players or AI opponents, depending on the game mode, for high in-game currency or rare car parts. This injects a layer of gambling and risk-reward into the competition.
- Bounty Race: The Syndicate or The Castle places a high bounty on a specific racer (including yourself). Win the head-to-head race against their bounty hunter to claim the reward and potentially expose a weakness in their organization.
- Canyon Drift (Palmont): Similar to drift but with lesser opponents, you drift through a treacherous canyon, making sure you don't crash. Avoid the falling rocks!
- Infiltration Run: You infiltrate a high-security facility or racetrack controlled by The Syndicate or The Castle. The race involves avoiding detection, completing objectives like stealing data or sabotaging equipment, and escaping before reinforcements arrive.
- Renegade Supply Run: Work undercover for The Renegades by delivering illegal car parts across the city. Avoid police detection, navigate through roadblocks, and potentially utilize disguises or abandoned vehicles to complete your objective without getting caught.
- Syndicate Shakedown: Infiltrate a Syndicate operation disguised as a recruit. The race involves sabotaging their equipment, stealing data, or causing distractions while maintaining your cover. Time Attack events and stealth mechanics can be incorporated to add tension.
- Pursuit: There are 2 types of the Pursuit gamemode down below which occur everywhere:
- Police Chase: A regular police chase, similar to Hot Pursuit (2010) and the original Most Wanted. In this gamemode, you have to evade the police at the right time. This can happen if a police or a SWAT unit manages to spot you. The maximum heat level for this Hot Pursuit mode can be Heat Level 10.
- (Syndicate Chase) S-07 Pursuit: Similar to before, except they are more aggressive, come in multiple units, have a maximum heat level of Heat Level 20, and can temporarily disable your car like the Elite Seven. You need to evade the S-07 units, known as the Syndicate officers, or take cover in a safehouse where they can’t get you busted. This can happen if a S-07 unit manages to spot you.
- Showdown: Otherwise known as Head to Head with only 1 opponent and a higher stake of a police chase or an S-07 Pursuit occurring, there are 2 types of races for this:
- Circuit Showdown: A race with only 1 opponent on a long circuit, ranging from 2 - 5 laps. Police and S-07 Units may intervene.
- Sprint Showdown: A race with only 1 opponent that ranges throughout the whole city or a very long sprint track. Police and S-07 Units may intervene.
- The Final Showdown: A very special Showdown mode designed for the final race of the game, (the final 2 races, based on Ending B) it is a circuit race that takes place from Palmont to Rockport, with about 2 laps, with you facing the Director. What makes this gamemode special is the introduction of the ES-07 units, specialized versions of the S-07 units, purely designed to take you down and ruin the ending of the game. The amount of tries ranges from 5 tries to a one-try depending on how powerful your car is to beat The Director in one go, making this final race truly special.
