The Star is an item featured in the Mario Kart series. When used, it provides invincibility to the player, allowing them to knock over opponents in their path. It is an uncommon item that is obtainable by low ranking drivers.

Koopa Kart series[]
The Star appears in every game in the Koopa Kart series, serving the same role as in Mario Kart. In most games, it can be obtained in the bottom six positions, while in Koopa Kart Wii and Koopa Kart 8, it is obtainable in the bottom eight positions. Koopa Kart Wii introduces the Mega Mushroom, which provides the player invincibility from everything except Stars, Bullet Bills, and Lightning (which shrinks the player to normal instead of making them small), and makes the player bigger.
