Video Game Fanon Wiki

Super Mario Fighters 2 (スーパーマリオファイターズ2 Sūpā Mario Faitāzu Tsu), known as Mario Championship 2 on Western cabinet artwork, is the sequel to Super Mario Fighters. This game was developed by Capcom, which also developed the first game. It was released on arcades and later ported to the Wii U.

An enhanced port of the game titled Super Mario Fighters 2 Deluxe (スーパーマリオファイターズ2 デラックス Sūpā Mario Faitāzu Tsu Derakkusu) was released for the Nintendo Switch, containing all of the DLC. Likewise, all content from Deluxe would be ported over to the arcade version via an update.

Gameplay[]

Much like the first game, the game play is similar to Power Stone. Characters collect Power Stars to enhance their attacks. If a character has three stars, they can execute a move known as the Super Star Move. Items from the Mario series, such as Super Mushrooms, Fire Flowers and Koopa Shells are also scattered throughout stages to assist players.

Story[]

Bowser and his minions have been defeated by Mario, as the latter won the tournament. Bowser decided to have his revenge by making his own tournament. He invites the fighters from the previous tournament along with some others to a competition called the Star Games, where the winner can be rewarded with the Grand Star. Mario and the others decide to join the tournament to see if Bowser is secretly planning something sinister.
