Super Mario Swap (also known as Mario +
Wario in Europe) is a side-scrolling puzzle game developed for the Game Boy Advance by Braintree Software in association with Nintendo R&D2 and published by Nintendo (Codemasters handled the European publishing.) The game was only released in the United States and Europe and was intended to be a port of Mario & Wario, but while Nintendo granted Braintree the rights to make a Mario game, they passed on it being a direct port. Nintendo did allow them to produce their own game and handle licensing, but they don’t acknowledge this as an official Mario game in spite of publishing and co-developing it.
The game centers on Mario and Wario falling victim to a spell cast by Kamek, where both now occupy the same body and can switch between one another, but get sent to a new dimension where they have to get out before the Koopa Kingdom could perform an attack on the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario can jump, while Wario can charge, and both can walk on blocks coordinating with the respective character's colors, you have to change the character at the right time to progress.
