Super Smash Bros. 6 is a 2027 platform fighting game developed by Sora Ltd. alongside Studio S of Bandai Namco, published by Nintendo and released in October for the Nintendo Switch 2. It is the sixth game (or seventh, if one counts Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and for Wii U as separate entries) in the Super Smash Bros. series. Unlike its predecessor, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, 6 is not focused on bringing back every single character from the series, instead focusing more on Nintendo's modern lineup of characters. Despite this, the third-party selection is as far-reaching as ever, including not only indie game characters, but fan game characters as well.
Gameplay[]
While it's likely that everybody who visits this wiki and their mother knows how the Super Smash Bros. series plays, I'm still gonna talk about the gameplay since it's pretty much its distinguishing feature compared to other fighting games.
Super Smash Bros. 6 is a platform fighting game where various video game characters (both from Nintendo and from other companies) duke it out in an arena (called a "stage"). The main objective is to defeat the opponents using a wide variety of attacks, but unlike regular fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken or Akatsuki Blitzkampf, players use a percentage system instead of a health meter: the higher the percentage is, the further the target will fly upon being hit. Being sent off the screen causes a KO, which gives a point to the player who dealt the final blow.
Unlike regular fighting games characters, who often differ greatly from each other in terms of inputs, Smash characters have the same amount of inputs, boasting two main attack buttons (one for regular attacks, the other for "special" attacks that greatly differ from each other), the ability to perform specific attacks with a tilt of the joystick (such as a "forward tilt" input, done by tilting the joystick either left or right and pressing the Attack button) and a powerful attack known as a "Final Smash", which can only be activated after either hitting the "Smash Ball" item enough times or by filling up a special "Final Smash Meter".
Smash 6's gameplay differs slightly from its predecessor, Ultimate, with the following changes being done to differenciate the two games:
- The characters can now be selected prior to the stage, much like older Smash titles.
- The speed of the game can now be selected, making matches either lightning quick like in Melee or slower like in Brawl.
- Players can now perform Parries by tapping the Shield button, allowing them to take no damage from an attack. Much like in Street Fighter III, Parries can be chained together, allowing particularly skilled players to take no damage from multi-hitting attacks.
- Most veterans have received overhauls to their movesets in order to make them feel more unique.

Roster[]
At launch, Super Smash Bros. 6 contains 75 characters (counting characters in a group like Red and Deep Cut as a single character), 9 of which are classified as "Echo Fighters". Echo Fighters are characters who share several normal moves with another fighter, making them clones of sorts. Bolded fighters are unlockables, which means that they must be unlocked by completing certain tasks or by playing the Smash mode enough times.

Trivia[]
- This is the first Super Smash Bros. game where Masahiro Sakurai, the series' creator, doesn't work as the director of the game, being the producer instead.
