MX is a playable unlockable fighter in Super Smash Bros. 6, originating from the Super Mario Bros. horror fangame Mario '85. He is an unknown entity who inhabits a cursed copy of the original Super Mario Bros., using it to capture the souls of anyone unlucky enough to play it and trapping them into the game in order to make them his playthings for all eternity. He is also the tormentor of a poor child named Lucas Everett, whose soul inhabits the body of Luigi.

Attributes[]

MX is a heavyweight character who primarily plays like a Grappler, boasting powerful throws and command grabs in his Neutral and Side Specials. While these tools may be seemingly offset by his low attack range and poor frame data, in reality they can be used recklessly due to MX' surprisingly high ground speed. Alongside that, he boasts the ability to transform part of the stage into a danger zone thanks to his Down Special, giving him slight Stage Controlling abilities.

MX' main weakness is that he's rather susceptible to zoning, as even with his high speed he lacks anti-zoning tools. Alongside that, his heavy weight and fast-falling recovery make it so that recovering as him will be a challenge. As such, a good MX player must use his most powerful attacks at the right time, attempt to close in with his high speed when the opponent is in a bad spot or to send them into his danger zone with his other very damaging blows.

Ground Attacks[]

Input Image Name Description Reference

Jab
N/A MX punches forward with great strength, before following up with another punch and finishing off with a powerful kick. All these deal high damage for a jab, but lack range. Mario's attack animation in Super Mario 64.

Dash Attack
N/A MX performs a shoulder bash that deals medium damage and can barrel through opponents. MX' Charging Demise ability from Pillar Chase 2.

Ledge Attack
N/A MX jumps up and performs a foot dive at an angle, dealing solid damage but boasting some ending lag. Uniquely, he can bounce off anyone that he hits with this attack, granting him some extra air time. N/A

Floor Attack
N/A MX attempts to grab an opponent in order to slam them into the ground, dealing major damage if he succeeds. Regardless of success, he will get back up. N/A

Tilt Attacks[]

Input Image Pose Name Description Reference

Side Tilt
Koopa Crusher MX kicks forward, being one of his fastest attacks but also one of his weakest ones. Mario kicking Koopa Shells away in certain Super Mario games.

Up Tilt
N/A MX performs an headbutt whose hitbox almost covers his entire body and that can spike opponents. To make up for this powerful ability, it deals low damage. N/A

Down Tilt
N/A MX stomps on the ground, creating a shockwave that deals small damage. The stomp itself deals medium damage. MX' attack animation in Pillar Chase 2.

Smash Attacks[]

Input Image Pose Name Description Reference

Side Smash
N/A MX charges up before delivering a very powerful punch. While this is his most powerful move at full charge, it is also the laggiest, having both starting and ending lag. N/A

Up Smash
N/A MX performs a jumping uppercut while adopting a very familiar pose, dealing moderate damage. Upon landing, he also creates a small shockwave that doesn't deal much damage. Mario's signature jumping pose.

Down Smash
N/A MX slams both of his fists around himself. Deals solid damage, but boasts some ending lag. N/A

Aerial Attacks[]

Input Image Pose Name Description Reference

Neutral Aerial
N/A MX performs a spinning lariat, hitting around himself only once for major damage. Slightly resembles the spinning animation from modern Super Mario games.

Forward Aerial
N/A MX throws an overhead punch akin to Mario's, except with a much bigger hitbox and a much bigger chance to spike opponents. Mario's Forward Aerial.

Back Aerial
N/A MX punches directly behind himself, dealing solid damage but boasting some starting lag. N/A

Up Aerial
N/A MX throws an uppercut, with his whole arm gaining an hitbox. The attack does more damage if it hits directly (read: if the opponent actually gets punched). N/A

Down Aerial
N/A MX stomps beneath himself, being able to spike opponents if timed right or to just launch them away with moderate damage. N/A

Grabs & Throws[]

Input Image Pose Name Description Reference

Grab
N/A MX grabs forward with one hand. N/A

Pummel
N/A MX knees the opponent. N/A

Forward Throw
N/A MX slams the opponent into the ground before kicking them away. While still dealing serious damage, it is his LEAST powerful throw. N/A

Back Throw
N/A MX drags the opponent across the floor before tossing them away. Deals some serious damage but has a bit of endlag. N/A

Up Throw
N/A MX carries the opponent over his shoulders, like in an Argentine Backbreaker position, before jumping up and coming back down, the force of the impact launching the opponent upwards. It's exactly as damaging as it sounds. Potemkin's Potemkin Buster from the Guilty Gear series.

Down Throw
N/A MX grabs the opponent with both hands and slams them into the ground head-first, burying them. His most combo-friendly throw. N/A

Special Moves[]

Input Image Name Description

Neutral Special
Back Breaker MX reaches out and attempts to grab an opponent. If he's successful, he will perform a very powerful backbreaker on them before tossing them aside. As a command grab, this move lacks range and leaves MX exposed should it whiff, but has a medium cooldown.

Side Special
Charging Demise MX charges forward while attempting to grab an opponent. If he's successful, he will run a short distance in the direction he's facing before slamming them into the ground, dealing high damage and launching the opponent away. Much like Back Breaker, this move leaves MX exposed for a while should it whiff, and has a heavy cooldown by virtue of being a charging command grab.

Up Special
POW Hop MX hops into the air while shouting "WAHOOOO!", before crashing back down at high speeds. His whole body has an hitbox while jumping, and upon landing he creates a small shockwave that stuns anyone that touches it. However, the move has high ending lag and may cause a self-KO if used a long distance away from the stage.

Down Special
Broken Flagpole MX stomps on the ground, creating a pike made out of a broken Super Mario Bros. flagpole. The pike deals damage to anyone that is sent flying into it (MX included!), and can be moved by his attacks. Additionally, if an opponent is sent flying from the top of the screen into it, the pike will stun them as if they were impaled on it, allowing MX to follow up with an attack. Only one pike may be placed down at a time.

Final Smash
INNOCENCE DOESN'T GET YOU FAR MX jumps into the background, before growing a gargantuan size. In this state, his moveset becomes heavily limited, but his attacks can deal massive amounts of damage in just one blow. This state lasts for 10 seconds, after which MX returns to normal and jumps back into the stage. The attacks he can perform are as follows:
  • Attack: MX locks onto a random fighter while charging up a punch, before punching in that position. Works similarly to Bowser's Giga Bowser Punch from Smash Ultimate, in that it will KO anyone over 100%.
  • Special: MX performs a massive slap across the stage, hitting pretty much anything but only doing medium knockback.
  • Grab: MX locks into a fighter and attempts to grab them, squeezing them for a bit if he's successful before tossing them away.
