Synopsis[]
Andy got a new competition kit, complete with a trophy, timer, and more! The toys test it out while he is away!
Modes[]
There are several modes, split between Single and Multiplayer.
Singleplayer[]
- Introduction: A beginning level hosted by Slinky Dog, where the player is required to play as Buzz. Can be accessed at any point in the game, unlike most tutorials.
- Free Play: A sandbox mode where everything is up to the player. You’re free to choose how the battle goes down, the stage, anything!
- Quick Play: A variation of Free Play. The players can only choose the ruleset and character. The rest is randomized! (Custom rule sets cannot be created in this mode, the rules must either be preset or created in Free Play.)
- 1P Arcade: The interface turns into Pizza Planet. The player can select an arcade cabinet (1 for each character, including secret unlocks, and 1 for Random Rivals) which represents a string of character-themed missions. Players can complete these mini-campaigns to unlock fun rewards!
Local Multiplayer[]
- Free Play: Same as 1P Free Play. Grab your buddies and battle your way!
- Battle Party: Grab 3 fighters and tag-team it in this arcade inspired matchup!
Online Multiplayer[]
These modes required either the Nintendo GameCube Broadband Adapter, the PS2 Network Adapter, or an Xbox Live account.
- Free Play: Same as Local Multiplayer Free Play and 1P Free Play. Grab an online party and battle your way!
- Quick Play: Similar to its 1P counterpart, except for the fact that there’s now matchmaking.
- Battle Party: Similar to its Local Multiplayer counterpart.
Interface[]
The interface is made to look like Andy’s Room, featuring several Toy Story elements:
- The main modes are accessed through multiple means:
- Local Multiplayer and Online Multiplayer are accessed through the TV Rex uses to play games in Toy Story 2.
- Singleplayer Free Play and Quick Play is accessed through a stack of board games.
- The Singleplayer Arcade Mode is accessed through a window, beyond which a Pizza Planet Truck is parked. When selected, it’ll drive off, then making the interface the Pizza Planet Arcade.
- Achievements are themed to stickers, and can be accessed in the Sticker Book.
- Settings are accessed through Andy’s Toy Chest.
