This is the transcript for the tutorial of Toy Story Fighter for Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, PS2, and later Xbox 360.

Intro[]

(Rex and Hamm are "playing" the Buzz Lightyear game. Hamm is frantically mashing buttons, while Rex is there, attempting to coach Hamm. However, Rex isn’t a good coach.)

Rex: No, Hamm! Not like that! You're just mashing buttons! You gotta… you gotta… think!

Hamm: I am thinking! I'm thinking about… how much I wanna beat Zurg!

(Hamm clumsily punches the controller. Rex groans.)

Rex: You think you’re gonna beat Zurg with random button mashing? You’re jeopardizing my save data!

Hamm: Relax, Rex! I'm learning! See?

(Hamm mashes more buttons and the Buzz onscreen does a random, ineffective move. The onscreen Zurg blasts the onscreen Buzz into oblivion, draining Rex’s last life and earning him a GAME OVER. Rex is livid.)

Rex: Hamm! Look what you did!

Hamm: I didn’t mean to…

(Rex groans, and the two begin fighting. Their flailing causes the Buzz Lightyear strategy guide to fall off the desk, landing near Slinky, who picks up the guide. He looks at the cover, then opens it and begins to read silently. Rex and Hamm continue their "fight" over the controller, oblivious to Slinky.)

(Later that day, Slinky’s just moseying about when Hamm comes up to him. He looks upset.)

Hamm: Hey, Slinky!

Slinky: Howdy, Hamm! Say, what’s wrong? You don’t look as witty as usual.

Hamm: So I was playing the Buzz game with Rex, right? He was coaching me and threw me directly into the Zurg boss battle! I didn’t know how to play, he wasn’t good at coaching me, and he was even on his last life! Meaning if I lost, it was game over!

Slinky: And…

Hamm: I lost! We began to fight, and now we’re not friends anymore! Is there any way to get to be friends again?!

Slinky: I’ve studied Zurg’s forces in the strategy guide that fell, and now, you can come to me about anything! And about being friends with Rex, I can teach you how to play and maybe you can impress him! How’s that sound?

Hamm: Great! Let’s get started!

Slinky: Alright, I’ll boot up the game!

(Slinky turns on the game, this beginning the tutorial!)

Xbox/360 Version[]

Slinky: Welcome to Xrgthung… Zurg’s world! This is where you’re gonna learn how to play! Alright, let’s start with basic movement controls. To move your character, tilt the analog stick to the side you want your character to go to. Go on, now! Try it out!

(The player moves right. There they encounter a stack of crates.)

Slinky: Looks like you’ve encountered an obstacle. To jump, press the button. You can also move left and right in midair, so try jumping over the crates!

(The player successfully jumps over the crates, and moves towards the door on the right of the chamber.)

Slinky: Great job! I think you’re ready for the next room! Proceed to the right and I’ll regroup with you there.

(The player moves into the next hallway, which is filled with lasers. A wall of lasers moves left and right, requiring players to crouch.)

Slinky: The lasers in this hall may look tricky to avoid, but if you crouch, they’ll pass you right by! To crouch, hold the analog stick in the “down” position.

(The player makes it past the first laser wall. When they encounter the second one, they notice that it does not move.)

Slinky: Now this wall’s a bit trickier! You can’t walk while you crouch, so you’ll have to slide! To do that, move the analog stick to the bottom corner of whatever direction you’re facing. If you would like to slide again, remove the stick from this position and then repeat the motion. It’s that simple!

(The player makes it past the next laser wall.)

Slinky: Great work! Now complete the rest of the laser maze! You can do it!

(The player makes it past the laser maze and enters a bright hallway. The door closes behind them.)

Slinky: It must have been pretty tough to dodge them lasers, but now, it’s time to learn how to dash! To dash, flick the analog stick in the direction you are facing and quickly let it go. Like sliding, this can be done continuously. So go!

(The player dashes successfully. An alarm pierces the ears and spikes pop out of the door behind them.)

Slinky: Uh oh. The spiked wall is about to come for you. You’re gonna need to dash to get out of this one.

(The player dashes, and makes their way out of the hallway just in time. The player encounters falling platforms.)

Slinky: Jump on these platforms to get to the other side! But don’t get too comfortable, they fall! I’ll regroup with you on the other side. Go, go, go!

(The player jumps across the platforms, making their way to Zurg’s arena.)

Slinky: Congratulations! You made it to the final arena!

(Zurg, on an elevator platform, rises from below at the middle of the arena.)

Zurg: Welcome, foolish Space Ranger! Before you face me, let’s see how you fare against my elite army of Zurgbots!

Slinky: Alright, partner, time to fight! Let's start with some light attacks! Press the button to perform a light attack!

(A small Zurgbot teleports towards the player. They defeat it with a light attack.)

Slinky: Nice one! Now let's try a medium attack. Press to land a medium attack!

(A slightly stronger Zurgbot teleports towards the player. They defeat it with a medium attack.)

Slinky: Great job! Now let’s go for a heavy attack. This one really packs a punch! Press !

(A stronger Zurgbot teleports towards the player. They defeat it with a heavy attack.)

Slinky: Wowee! You’re almost a better Buzz than, well, Buzz is! But let’s try something new… Basic Combos! These are basically regular attacks strung together! Let’s try out a Light Combo by pressing the button 3 times in a row!

(A Zurgbot, equivalent in size to the one destroyed with a medium attack, teleports towards the player. They defeat it with a light combo.)

Slinky: Good! Now try pressing the button 3 times in a row for a Medium Combo!

(A Zurgbot, equivalent in size to the one destroyed with a heavy attack, teleports towards the player. They defeat it with a medium combo.)

Slinky: Oh Yeah! Now for one last combo—the Heavy Combo! Try hitting the button 3 times!

(A stronger Zurgbot teleports towards the player. They defeat it with a heavy combo. Another Zurgbot with a glowing fist spawns in.)

Slinky: Uh oh! Duck! Jump!

(The player ducks, then jumps, dodging the fist. The fist grows larger.)

Slinky: Uh… That fist grew larger! You know, sometimes, attacking isn't enough! You gotta know how to defend yourself! Try blocking with !

(The player blocks, and the fist is reflected, going back to the enemy and killing it.)

Slinky: Great job!

(A small Zurgbot appears near the player.)

Slinky: Now, sometimes you need to get up close and personal! Press the Button to grab your opponent.

(The player grabs the Zurgbot.)

Slinky: Once you've got them, you can either start some attacks… or you can throw them! Press the grab button again to throw them!

(The player throws the Zurgbot and defeats it.)

Slinky: Yee-haw! Some space rangers might have unique throws that require a specific directional input, but you can refer to your strategy guide or the move list for that!

(A large Zurgbot teleports in front of the player.)

Slinky: Now, it’s time to talk about the play meter! When it fills 1/3rd of the way, you can use your first signature move by pressing and !

(The play meter fills to power level 1. It then fills to power level 2!)

Slinky: When your play meter reaches 2/3rds, you can use your second signature move by pressing and ! Or you can use the first move twice!

(The player throws meter fills completely!)

Slinky: And when your meter is completely full you can use your ultimate SUPER MOVE by pressing ! There is no going back when your meter is full! And look at that! It is! Try out your super move!

(The player activates the super move, destroying the big Zurgbot. This catches Zurg’s attention!)

Zurg: Augh! My minions are useless! It’s time I take care of this… personally.

Slinky: You caught Zurg’s attention! Time to use everything you learned to defeat him!

(The Zurg battle commences.)
